Commerce, hospitality, and tourism have been some of the sectors most affected by the global crisis generated by covid-19, as well as construction, industry, and human resources. Activities such as banking, insurance, and legal have remained stable during these times of economic paralysis. On the contrary, the purchasing and logistics, electronic commerce, technology, and telecommunications segments performed positively and remained active during the period of confinement and restrictions.
Despite the fact that three out of four Spanish companies claim to be maintaining their salary policy despite the crisis, it is a reality that the maintenance of salaries is and will be conditioned in the coming months by how the coronavirus pandemic evolves.
According to the results published by the human resources company Adecco, in its III Spring Professional Guide to the labor market, the best-paid professions during 2020 were engineering director (73,683 euros), mergers and acquisitions analyst (68,750 euros), and director of operations in the industrial field (64,346 euros).
To carry out this study, 100 positions in 10 economic sectors have been examined in detail: banking and insurance, financial and legal, human resources, life science, digital & e-Commerce, large consumption, IT & TELCO, industry, construction and real estate, logistics, and shopping.
The labor market is going through one of the moments of greatest change and uncertainty of the modern era, with profound transformations -digitalization, flexibility, changes in production models and chains, deglobalization, and the need for professional retraining, among others- that will be installed in the future to stay.
The technology sector and the demand for their profiles increased their prominence during the months of confinement and became the most demanded after health professionals. In fact, it is estimated that 8% of the jobs created between March and May 2020 corresponded to the area of information technology and telecommunications.
This crisis has shown that it is necessary to accelerate the digitization process that affects all areas of our economy, so this sector will surely continue to increase its importance in employment, according to Adecco.
