The Australian city of Melbourne is considered the most suitable for telecommuting, according to a study by the platform specialized in job search abroad WorkMotion. In second place is Montreal, ahead of Sydney, which completes the third step of the podium.
With regard to Spain, Madrid is the fifteenth-best city in the world for teleworking, with a score of 83.22 out of 100. Barcelona follows two places behind, with 82.12 points, while Las Palmas (81 .06) completes the national ranking at number 22.
Among the factors to be evaluated, those related to labor compliance, living costs, infrastructure, and habitability stand out. For the sample, 80 cities around the world were analyzed.
WorkMotion evaluated how easy or difficult it is for companies to comply with labor laws in each city, as well as the legal requirements for remote work and whether each location offers a visa for this performance. Financial factors that often influence the attractiveness of a city for relocation, such as taxes, costs, the standard of living, and housing availability, were also evaluated.
Other factors to be studied were the levels of gender equality, minority equality, LGBTI equality, political stability, quality of the public education system, and citizens' access to medical care. In addition, they analyzed the level of happiness that citizens have in each city, as well as the cultural attractions that are offered and the mobility options.
