CleceVitam anticipates the new care model in residences proposed by the Government.
The Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda is working on a document that brings together the criteria of companies, autonomous communities and worker representatives, on what requirements the new residential centers for the elderly must meet.
According to Europa Press, it is being considered that the new residences have a maximum number of places, a percentage of individual rooms and common spaces that resemble a home, personalized by users. In addition, residences already built may have to be sectorized and divided into independent areas.
The reference companies in the residential care sector are in tune with the spirit of the future law, since they have been transforming it for years in the proposed sense, if it intends that residences for the elderly leave behind their merely care dimension to become centers that are capable of offering a person-centered care model and whose professionals conceive and manage them as a home with personalized care.
In turn, the sector is very critical of the requirements that the draft considers mandatory to offer personalized and quality care and they warn that, if the law goes ahead, investment in new centers would be stopped and we would be forced to a model of obsolete residences.
Be that as it may, there is a residential reality that has been here for a long time and that it is not necessary to imagine. The CleceVitam centers, the Clece subsidiary dedicated to the management of private residences for the elderly, are backed by Clece's experience in social services and by the financial strength of a group founded in 1992, whose staff of 75,000 professionals strives for excellence in all the activities it develops.
Comprehensive person-centered care
CleceVitam centers are conceived both spatially and socially to be able to develop a care model based on Person-Centered Comprehensive Care (AICP), a methodology that personalizes assistance to the biography, tastes, preferences and values of the user, always from proximity, empathy and dignified treatment.
“At CleceVitam we need to get to know the person well, what their life story has been and what their needs are, in order to offer the necessary care and provide a better quality of life. We want the people who live in the center to feel that it is their true home, so they decorate their rooms and bring belongings that make them feel at home. This center is small in size which makes it become a large family. For us, respect for the way of life of the person is the most important value and for which we work”, says Yasmina Valdivieso, director of CleceVitam Altos de Parquesol, located in Valladolid.
Also, they are structured in coexistence units in which users can develop their social dimension. “In this center, since it has a small number of people, the attention is much more individualized and the hours are adapted to each person. We exceeded the established ratio of both direct service personnel and technicians. In addition, we have two rooms that are intimate and small spaces where people live together and where interpersonal relationships are facilitated, thus being much more spontaneous and fluid”, argues Yasmina.
The welfare of users above all
CleceVitam has reinvented care for the elderly in preconceived residences so that the well-being of users is the axis of the center's activity. Valdivieso affirms: “The most important thing here is the people. We always keep in mind that each person is unique, has their own wishes and needs that we always respect. There is an activity plan drawn up based on your life project. Always keeping in mind what your tastes, interests and preferences are. An Individualized Care Plan is also drawn up, carried out by all the center's professionals”.
New technologies to improve your quality of life
In terms of therapies and activities, a very important factor to highlight comes into play and it is none other than technological innovation. Advances in this field have found a niche in residences and are contributing very satisfactorily to the well-being of users.
And this is what the Director of CleceVitam Altos de Parquesol affirms; “To promote the quality of life and well-being of residents, we have tablets with which they can communicate with their relatives whenever they want and see them in real time.
We also have the YetyTablet, which is a large tablet that is very easy to use and intuitive. This instrument, in addition to meaning entertainment, has therapeutic purposes since they can do activities with body movements, balance maintenance, cognitive stimulation…”
Continuous training of staff
CleceVitam is made up of professionals from different specialties who guarantee quality care for the elderly and are committed to constant training of care staff. “Continuous training is essential to provide the people in our care with quality care. We are constantly advancing in terms of techniques, equipment, new protocols... it is very necessary that the staff dedicated to care is up to date with all the news and thus be able to apply it in daily work and achieve our goal: that our residents are care in a comprehensive and personalized way and be masters of their will”, concludes Yasmina.
